Types of braces at Lach Orthodontic Specialists

At Lach Orthodontic Specialists, we offer our patients a choice of metal, clear, self-ligating, computer-designed, or hidden braces. All these methods can be greatly beneficial for your smile, and Dr. Lach can help you decide what is best for you or your loved one.

Traditional braces

Traditional braces work using a system of brackets affixed to the teeth, a metal archwire running through them, and small elastics called ligatures holding everything together.

At our office, we offer both metal and clear options for traditional braces. Metal brackets are made from durable stainless steel, while clear brackets are made from tooth-colored ceramic that helps them blend in with your natural smile.

When you come in for adjustment appointments during treatment, Dr. Lach will make targeted bends in your archwires to apply gentle pressure to your teeth. This pressure will slowly guide your teeth into proper alignment.

Self-tightening braces

Self-ligating braces don’t require ligatures to straighten your smile. For this reason, we sometimes refer to them as “ligatureless braces.” The brackets of self-ligating braces have a special metal clip that allows the archwire to provide light continuous forces on the teeth during treatment.

Because of the sliding mechanism of self-ligating braces, your teeth won’t experience nearly as much friction during treatment. This ease of movement makes for added comfort, increased treatment speed, and less needed adjustments.

If you are looking for the ultimately discreet treatment with braces, InBrace might be right for you. The brackets of InBrace are fixed to the back side of your teeth, hiding them completely from view when you smile.

InBrace work with the same method as traditional braces, but the brackets are much smaller and lower profile, so they won’t interfere with your speech. InBrace brackets are custom made for each individual tooth for a comfortable fit and exacting results.
