Precision 3D digital scan

At Lach Orthodontic Specialists, patient comfort and safety are our top priorities. That’s why we’ve chosen to use the Precision 3D lythos scanner for treatment planning at our practice.

How does the Precision
3D digital scanner work?

The Precision 3D lythos scanner does not use standard x-ray technology. This makes it safe to use for our patients, as it is completely radiation-free. It also does away with the need for any physical impression trays, which greatly improves treatment accuracy and patient comfort.

Our scanner uses a small wand to take digital impressions of your smile with a miniature high-resolution video camera. As we move the wand around your mouth, we can capture thousands of photos within seconds to create an accurate 3D model of your smile.

How our scanner
improves your treatment

We can use the model our Precision 3D scanner makes to simulate the effect of Invisalign® treatment or 3D computer-designed braces on your smile. It will accurately show us what your smile will look like each step of the way through treatment – and we can show you too!

This takes the guesswork out of treatment planning, and ensures you receive the best and most efficient treatment plan. In fact, we use our scanner to help plan nearly all our treatments – from retainers to expanders to nightguards – to ensure they are completely optimized for your smile.
